We all know it can be tough and stressful to keep everything under control. We also know our team is not superhuman, and they certainly put in the hours, so we want to make sure we take care of ourselves and find a balance between hard work and enjoying our personal lives.
It sounds all lovely and rosey, but can be hard, when you’ve just pulled an 18 hour day, so what can we do to achieve that? How can we improve our work-life balance in events?
We asked our colleagues and the events industry to see what they would do if given the chance to make one change.
Our poll to the events industry was this:
“If you could do one thing to improve your work-life balance in events, what would you do?”
The responses were insightful, as we expected people want AI to help them do their job more efficiently, bring pets into the office to boost mood and add mandatory siesta time into every day.
- Create an AI Clone: Why not have a digital doppelgänger to handle those pesky emails and scheduling conflicts? Imagine how much extra time you’d have for yourself!
- Set Up a Hammock in the Office: Mandatory siesta time, anyone? A quick nap in a hammock could be the perfect midday refresh.
- Propose ‘Bring Your Pet to Work’ Days: Instant mood boosters and stress relievers, our furry friends might just be the best coworkers we could ask for.
- Something Else? The floor is open to your wildest suggestions! Drop your ideas in the comments.
While these ideas may be amusing, the need for a sustainable work-life balance in the events industry is no joke. We all know that taking care of ourselves is crucial for not only our own well-being, our families or friends at home and also for the success of the events we deliver. It is a collective responsibility to promote a healthy work-life balance and support each other in achieving it.
CrowdComms Team Work Life Balance
We asked the CrowdComms team for some of their stress-busting or work-life balancing tips, and here’s what they had to say:
Chris Armstrong, Senior Platform Specialists, CrowdComms
I have a couple of cute cats at home, I like to find where they are sleeping in the garden during the day and surprise them with a treat or two, especially if I’ve just been on calls for an hour or two! I can share some cat pics!
Rory Trow, Business Development Manager, CrowdComms
Sneaking away to the gym for 30/40mins keeps me in a good head space. We’re lucky that we have a gym 3 doors down from the office. I’m not sure it gives me a good work life balance but it keeps me in sane.
Will Custard, Product Director, CrowdComms
Will responded to us with a dozen tips of how to create a better work-life balance with kids at home. Here’s some of our favorite ones:
-
- Get real friendly with the person in charge of breakfast and after school clubs so you can always be 5-10 minutes late
- Teach your children to make their own food as early as possible
- Keep your cereal and milk in a low cupboard
