How we’ve been using Speaker Stacks to track ROI from speaking gigs

Share post:

When we speak at events, a lot goes into making it a success. From nailing down the talk title, to shaping a story that resonates, to creating a deck that actually adds value (and doesn’t just echo the script)—it’s a full team effort.

With so much energy going into what we’re saying, it’s easy to overlook what happens after we’ve said it.

Ask yourself, what’s the point of being on stage? Maybe it’s imparting knowledge, perhaps it’s sharing a new product, thesis or vision. Whatever the goal may be, there might be an underlying niggle – how do I capture leads or contacts that have attended my session?

That’s why we’ve quietly been using a handy little tool over the past few months to make sure our sessions live on long after the final slide: Speaker Stacks, which officially launched today on Product Hunt.

What is Speaker Stacks?

At first glance, it looks like just a QR code on a slide. But behind that code is a beautifully simple microsite—a “stack”—designed to capture attention, drive action, and measure results.

We use it to:
  • Share resources or deeper content mentioned in our talk
  • Give attendees a way to follow up (opting in, via personal choice)
  • Track who’s engaging with our talks
For busy event marketing teams like ours at CrowdComms, it’s a no-brainer. All we have to do is add a link or bonus download behind the code, add that to a slide / presentation and we’re good to go.

Why We Love It

We’re not the creators of Speaker Stacks (shout out to the team who are!), but we’ve been early adopters. Here’s why:

  • It’s fast. We don’t need to build a landing page every time we speak.
  • It’s trackable. We can actually see if people are scanning and clicking.
  • It’s smooth. No clunky CTAs or “come visit our stand” lines—just relevant, helpful content delivered instantly.
In a world where speaker slots can sometimes feel hard to measure, this has been a game-changer for tracking ROI and engagement.

Our favourite way to Capture Event Leads

For one recent panel discussion, we added a specific downloadable guide with simple call to action to download and stay in touch. During the session, our marketing team were able to see who was engaging with the content, and reach out to them with a personalised follow-up, as well as the juicey content they downloaded.

This strategy not only resulted in new leads but also solidified our brand as a source of valuable information.

Speaker Stacks Is Now Live

If you’re speaking at events—or supporting a team that does—it’s worth checking out Speaker Stacks. It’s smart, lightweight, and built with the speaker’s experience in mind. We’re excited to see it launch officially and even more excited to keep using it ourselves.
