The Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) is the only professional body solely dedicated to internal communication in the UK. They help organisations and individuals succeed by promoting internal comms of the highest standards. Through their qualifications, training, awards, communities and thought leadership, the IoIC have been driving standards for over 70 years.
The IoIC Festival’s motto: connect, inspire and learn, encapsulates the purpose behind the event. Not only do the event organisers want to bring people together, but they also want to highlight the importance of hearing from peers and sharing good practices. The festival allows attendees to see speakers they wouldn’t usually have access to and provides a wealth of new information and practical ideas that can be taken back to the workplace.
For the organisers, moving to an event app with all of its enhanced functionality was an obvious choice. They had become familiar with using event platforms for virtual events during the pandemic and were keen to pull similar technology through to their in-person events going forward.
This year’s Festival was held in July at Goosedale in Nottingham. Doors opened to 120 attendees, all of whom had the opportunity to download the CrowdComms in-person Event App and, as such, had all of the event information at their fingertips. The agenda, packed with inspiring sessions, which Festival Goers could programme their own day from, and an array of sponsors pertinent to the industry, made for a lively and productive event day.
Reliable Tech Designed to Take the Weight off your Shoulders
The up-to-the-minute flexibility of using an event app never fails to lighten the load for event organisers (and provides immediate stress relief when inevitable content changes are required whilst on-site)! The organisers of the IoIC Festival were no exception and enjoyed the freedom of communication that the app brings. Significant, last-minute adjustments to the speaker programme were all handled directly through the app and were relayed in real-time to all of the event’s participants. The use of push notifications enabled IoIC to keep delegates up to date on what was happening, which meant for a better delegate experience and gave the IoIC the ability to be agile with the activities throughout the two days.
“We were able to continually keep people up to date. The CrowdComms app is very useful for event organisers!”
In the run-up to the event, the organisers were experiencing difficulties in other areas of their technology framework. Expecting this to cause a delay in the event app build, they were thrilled to find that their CrowdComms support specialist had overcome this challenge for them and had already completed the app build to their exact specifications.
Support on Stand-by
CrowdComms tech comes with the reassurance of having our specialist teams standing by to step in and help if needed. We pride ourselves on ensuring that the events we support exceed expectations, and we will do all we can to help make this happen. At the IoIC Festival, although we had our CrowdComms crew in place, the robust and reliable nature of the app meant that no extra support was required other than event team solidarity!
“The team in the lead-up to the event were amazing.
We almost didn’t need the onsite support as the back-end build was fantastic (although, we were glad CrowdComms were there, just in case)!”
Thank you to the IoIC for providing us with their feedback for this case study. Please take a look at their new website if you’d like to learn more about them.
