Using an event app game is a fresh way of engaging attendees with your event. Gamification will encourage your attendees to get involved with your event in new ways. Adding a competitive aspect to your event via an event app game will mean attendees can get even more out of the event experience. So, why not consider revamping your event engagement strategy?

Here are some reasons to implement a gamification strategy at your event…

1.     For Pre-Event Engagement

Launching your event app a couple of weeks before your event can boost overall downloads significantly. However, your attendees will need a reason to download your event app before the event. A game or competition can provide that drive to download. Play into your attendee’s competitive spirit by rewarding points for things like downloading the event app, filling out their personal profile and posting on the activity feed. Their points could go towards their overall score, giving them a head start before the event even begins. Be sure to have a few good prizes as an incentive, perhaps something that ties in with the goals of your event. For example, at a sporting event with a goal of promoting good health you could award a FitBit to the highest points earner.

2.     For Education

Many events include an element of training or education, an event app game can help boost this experience. Add a quiz on the material covered in sessions which immediately awards points for the correct answers. Attendees will see their peers rising up the leader board and will want to join in! The quiz content will reinforce what they have been taught during the event and the event app will provide real time data on how well the attendees have understood the material.

3.     For Sponsors

Hosting a sponsored scavenger hunt on your event app could be a great way to boost attendee engagement. You could offer sponsors the opportunity to include their own ‘challenge’ on the event app. Perhaps this could be a series of clues which eventually lead to the sponsor’s trade stand where the attendees could pick up a mystery prize. There are lots of ways gaming can be used at an event, so get creative!
