Event MB’s recent survey of the event trends we can expect in 2020 provide concrete evidence for the importance of event apps. Of all surveyed, 68% of event app providers agreed that the demand for apps has risen in 2019 and will continue to rise in 2020. Clearly, although event apps are a well-established technology, they are proving to have an unprecedented capacity for growth.
The survey of several event app providers also gave an insight into the specific app features attendees were most interested in. 52% of those surveyed found that attendees largely used the event app to view session information. As well as this, 49% reported high use of live engagement features such as polling, Q&A and gamification.
Event apps may be there to service your attendees’ most basic needs, but they also have the scope to house so much more. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your event apps in 2020:
1. Integration
There are numerous event tech platforms out there, all offering different services for your attendees. It can be overwhelming when you consider all these options- and even more overwhelming when it comes to managing different tools across different platforms whilst onsite! Look for an event app provider that can also manage registration, badging, check-in, wayfinding and more- I’ve heard CrowdComms are the perfect choice…
2. Remote Attendees
With more and more people pledging to go #flightfree in 2020, optimising your event app to cater for remote attendees is more important than ever. A great tip for engaging remote attendees is to provide an exclusive sneak peek through Instagram stories. Why not invite an industry influencer to your event and have them run your Instagram story? This way your attendees can access more content and commentary on your event. For more tips on engaging remote attendees, check out this post.
3. Investing in Event Apps
Event MB’s survey also found that 52% of event professionals plan to invest more of their event budgets into tech. This trend will lead to many event spaces becoming more tech friendly and attendees more tech-focused. To save money and time, it may be best to opt for a tech provider who offers a range of services. CrowdComms’s suite offers event apps, registration, event badge printing, wayfinding, lead capture and more!
