Simon Hoare MP Meets CrowdComms, Award Winning Event App Company

On January 9th, CrowdComms were delighted to welcome North Dorset MP Simon Hoare to their UK office in the rural town of Sturminster Newton. Simon Hoare was accompanied by Town Councillor Chris Spackman who is actively encouraging new information-based industries into the town. "Crowdcomms' business in Sturminster is to be welcomed.  They are providing exactly the high tech and well paid jobs that our North Dorset economy needs.  Access to high speed broadband in rural areas, a necessity for firms like Crowdcomms, is pivotal to delivering economic growth. Seattle, Sydney and Sturminster! Crowdcomms is a real feather in our North Dorset economic cap. It was a great pleasure to meet the team," Simon commented.

CrowdComms is an award winning event app company with offices in Australia, the USA and Ireland (as well as Sturminster Newton!). The company enables event organisers to create smart phone apps to replace paper handbooks traditionally used at events and conferences. They have had the privilege of working with many fantastic organisations since their inception in 2011, which include many well known brands such as Nike, Barclays, and Virgin Holidays.

They support clients in the design, building and management of their event app and recently won the award for “Best Event App 2016” at the Event Technology Awards, a fantastic achievement, putting them at the forefront of the event app industry.

Simon strongly supports Mr Spackman in setting out an Economic Development Plan for Sturminster Newton to regenerate the economy and attract new businesses, similar to CrowdComms, to the town. Tempting tech companies to Sturminster Newton will create more jobs, as well as opportunities for young people to develop skills and experience in an ever-changing industry. Simon and Chris are keen for Sturminster Newton High School to link with businesses such as CrowdComms to encourage students to pursue an IT career they may not have previously considered. They are also working hard to ensure Sturminster Newton is included in the plan to rollout Ultrafast Broadband.

“We are really happy we chose Sturminster Newton as our HQ in the UK. This is a great place to live and we are excited to continue to grow our business here. IT-skilled labour and Ultrafast Broadband will be crucial for us as we grow so we are very supportive of the initiatives led by Chris Spackman and Simon Hoare, “ said Felix Stroud-Allen, Co-Founder at CrowdComms.
